FAQ
1. Types of Roofing Materials:
What types of roofing materials do you offer and what would perform
the best for my home or project?
We offer a variety of different roofing systems and materials to suit
your specific project and application. Feel free to look at the different
pictures and projects on our website or call us for an in-person or
on-the-phone consultation.
2. Installation Process:
What does the roof installation process involve and how long does it
typically take to install a new roof?
Typically it takes anywhere from 2 to 5 days to replace a moderate-size roof. We can pull in extra crew members if the
project is abnormally large and get things done within that period. Usually, if we are doing a roof during the winter time or with
increment weather patterns, we are very observant of weather
forecasts and make sure the home is covered/finished by the time of
the rain/etc.
Do I need to be home during the installation?
The main things that we need to be ready to perform a job is access
to power plugs, access to the backyards for cleanup or repairs, and
full access to the front entrance parking areas. As long as we can
secure these items, you will not necessarily need to be home as long
as we have a phone number to contact you for questions or
emergencies.
3. Roofing Repairs:
How do I know if my roof needs repairs?
There are many different types of situations when it comes to
whether a roof needs to be repaired or replaced. We run into
improper installation on some projects, or a roof that is so weathered
out that to try and repair it might make things even worse. We will
provide you our best opinion on what we can do whether it is
to repair your roof or offer you an estimate for a full replacement.
What types of roof repairs do you offer?
We pretty much do all types of repairs, including emergency
services, flat roofs, tile roofs, metal roofs, commercial and residential
roofs, and from time to time, we might even replace a light bulb (who
knows?)
How quickly can you respond to emergency repairs?
As soon as we can mobilize. Usually within a day or so, but
sometimes the same day if we are not too busy.
4. Cost and Estimates:
How do you determine the cost of a roofing project?
We keep up with the material market pricing as well as over
overhead, labor costs, and profits to provide you with a competitive price.
We offer discounts for veterans and elderly folks that we know live on
a fixed income. Feel free to consult with us about your specific needs.
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes, we do, unless the estimate involves reports that we need to
put together for insurance requests, financial institutions, or property
management requests.
What factors can impact the cost of a roofing project?
The type of roofing material you will use whether it is an entry-level
shingle roofing (90% of residential roofing) or a high-end shingle or
metal roof. Some market pricing of certain items that we purchase
for your roof are sometimes higher cost during the winter.
5. Warranty and Guarantees:
What warranties do you offer on your roofing materials?
We offer warranties of 10 years to a Lifetime on materials.
Do you provide warranties on your workmanship?
Our standing labor warranty is from 5-10 years to cover any
problems that may have been overlooked in the project process.
What is covered by your roofing guarantees?
Material warranties are usually covered by the manufacturer, and our
labor warranties are covered by our company. You call us about the
problem, and then we take it from there as far as the material
suppliers and/or labor needed.
6. Insurance and Licensing:
Are you licensed and insured?
We are fully licensed and insured. Call us for copies of our license
and all insurances and we can provide it to you.
Do you work with insurance claims?
We work with most insurance claims, as long as the work and
funding is approved before we start the project.
What should I do if my roof is damaged in a storm?
You will need to first call your insurance so they can send out an
adjuster to survey the damages. Then they will request estimates.
Then you call us and we provide you with a free estimate that you can
hand over to your adjuster for approval.
7. Maintenance Tips:
How can I maintain my roof to prolong its lifespan?
One of the best things you can do for your roof is twice a year clean
out your gutters and downspouts. Other than that, if trees
or vegetation are hanging over your roof, make sure you get them
trimmed before they damage your roof. Also sometimes there is
excessive debris that builds up in roof valleys and flat roof areas that
need to be cleaned off at least twice a year.
What are the signs that my roof needs regular maintenance?
After wind storms and weather events where leaves and debris
accumulate on your roof. Also, you should always check the
gutters, valleys, and low-pitch areas of your roof at least once a year
in the fall.
8. Environmental Impact:
Do you offer eco-friendly roofing options?
We offer Title 24-compliant and Energy Star-rated materials. Saving
energy and using sustainable materials, as well as recycling of
disposed materials that we can is part of what we try to do to be as
eco-friendly as possible.
How can a new roof improve energy efficiency?
Reflective colors and roof materials all add to the energy efficiency
of a home. We also offer insulation alternatives and upgrades for you
that can add tremendous energy value to your home. The typical
home built around the year 2000 or before has approximately 4-5
inches of insulation. We add 10-plus inches of
insulation which makes a huge difference in your energy bills.
9. Safety Precautions:
What safety measures do you take during roof installation?
Our crews are trained and certified in work safety measures and we
also provide on-site safety meetings to make our workers aware of
specific hazards on your project.
How can homeowners ensure their safety during roofing projects?
The best thing a homeowner can do to help ensure safety is making
sure the crew has full access to the roof and backyard, so they don’t
have to take extra measures to gain access to hard-to-reach areas of
the roof.
10. Permitting and Regulations:
Do I need a permit for a roof replacement or repair?
Most repairs do not need a permit. Most roofing projects above more
than half the roof needs a building permit.
How do you handle local building codes and regulations?
We do all the permitting process including the paperwork to get the
permit, and scheduling with the inspectors during and after the
project.
11. Timeline and Scheduling:
How far in advance should I schedule a roofing project?
The answer to that question is as possible. If you are
wanting a specific date to do the project, please let us know a month
or two in advance so we can adjust our schedules to accommodate
that. Feel free to call into our office to see where you are at on the
schedules.
What factors can impact the timeline of a roofing project?
We try our best to keep up with the timelines that we provide you for
doing your project. Weather is something that can impact
your project timeline due to holding off on doing a project so as not to
leave an uncovered roof out in the rain. There are other factors as
well, which we will try and keep you informed of if there are changes to
the schedules.
12. Payment and Financing:
What payment methods do you accept?
We access most forms of credit cards (for a small fee), ACH, direct
payments through our Intuit invoice system, as well as check and
cash.
Do you offer financing options for roofing projects?
On our website, there is a link to a finance company called Hearth
which we have partnered with to provide financing for your project.
We at times offer short times (such as a few months) for you to make
payments, etc.
